Podcast 33: Gun-damn you, Hallelujiah Haptism.

June 30, 2009

This week’s show brings you yet more proof that we need to invest in pop filters. We’ve reviewed the recently-released-on-DVD anime Gundam 00, which we have decided is best pronounced “double aught,” as an old person would.

I still say I should have won the debate, but in the end The Guy Nerd was convinced TO watch the show. Someday I’ll be on ze winning team!

Beginnings of a news post

June 24, 2009

Good morning darlings! Sorry no update yesterday. The Guy Nerd is doing the news this week, but he is at a conference so he hasn’t been able to post it yet. I found a couple of interviews today and just had to post them. Sorry Guy Nerd! You can still post yours!

Interview with Mamoru Oshii about his new Musashi movie (I’m excited about the movie)

Interview with Peter Craig, writer for the Cowboy Bebop live action. The writer might be good, but I still weep for all the other variables that could go horribly wrong (Keanu as Spike…please kill me).

The Guy Nerd will update later today, most likely, but this should hold you for now! Cuddles!

News Tuesday Post Sans Mini-Rant

June 9, 2009

There were quite a few newsbits in the last couple of weeks which, if you haven’t already gleaned them from ANN, might be interesting! Nothing particularly urgent or anything, but here you go just the same:

Moribito back on Adult Swim. I seem to recall liking Seirei no Moribito I think maybe kind of? I’m too lazy to go look at my own review page.

News of the new Gurren Lagann movie dub being shown at Anime Expo is thus far the only reason I’m sad I won’t be going. Hey GuyNerd? Kiss it! I liked the dub!

All I’m going to say about this is that my eyes rolled so hard when I read this that I injured myself. It’s not even a smartphone, dammit.

Japan doesn’t want another anime museum??? WHAT? Even us bumbling idiots in the U.S. support the animation arts! The world is doomed!

HUUUGE list of Central Park Media licenses listed for sale by liquidator. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Somebody please re-dub La Blue Girl. A new generation of horny teenagers needs some hentai to make creeped-out-faces at.

Finally, and in completely non-anime-related news, someone actually holds a world record for most bullwhip cracks in one minute, and he is trying to break it. Now THAT’S a good human interest story. Also, by adding “Bullwhips” to the post tags, I hope to gain an entirely NEW audience! Wahahaha!

Anyway, hope you guys have a great week! Stay tuned for some good rollicking fun in next week’s podcast. Mwah!

Getting down with the update

May 26, 2009

This week..

Firstly, ever thought of becoming an animator? I would if I could draw anything more than ugly stick figures, but for the rest of you brilliant artistically inclined young’ins out there, you might be interested to know of your future salary.

And all you Eva fans, hooray for the dubbed version of the first movie?

Lastly…what interested ME most in the scary fanboy way- it’s THE phone from Eden of the East! I’ll marry whoever gets me one <.< I might consider the phone from Eva as a substitute on a case by case basis.  XD

One Piece Simulcast May 30th

May 14, 2009

One Piece: LuffyIn a news article on ANN, I’ve just learned that, beginning with episode #403 (have YOU been watching that long?), Funimation will simulcast English subbed episodes of One Piece. Now, I used to LOVE that show, but I’m so far behind that I’m not sure I’d have a clue what was going on. I’ll still check it out, and so should you! Stay tuned for next week’s review! Cuddles ;)!

New-sday, Minirant by yours truly

May 12, 2009

You all know how much I love when anything to d0 with Japanese popculture makes international headlines- recently, 4chan.org’s founder “moot” was named the most influential person on TIME’s 100 (online, go figure) poll. Either who, it’s always fun and…funNY watching news items about such things.

In other more indigenous Japanese news, the Lucky Star credit card- really necessary? When it comes to all things Lucky Star, honestly it’s anyone’s guess. What next? Lucky Star medicine that stuns your growth at the-cutesey-Konata-size? Hell yea, why not?

And hey, more Base Ball Bear news. I’m sorry but I’m in love with this indie-turned famous rock band. Almost as much More than Uverworld and Asian Kung-fu Generation. You may recognise their music from the most recent Gintama ED and the ED for Library Wars.

More music news- BECAUSE YOU CAN’T MISS THIS. Utada. Utada Hikaru. Her next English album, “This is the One” goes on sale today. It’s already been on several billboard charts. I’m so glad this album is redeeming what I call her trashy first full English album. Yay Utada! Buy here? (or on iTunes) Because I sincerely love her that much.

And oh hey, last but not least- the minirant! This week’s minirant- Recent Annoyances. That odd bits before the OP and after the ED, and FMA’s choice of eyecatch.
